The Fault in our Stars Trailer

Hey guys. So, The Fault in our Stars trailer came out yesterday. And I have watched it far too much already...
I love it so much and I can't wait until it comes out June 20th this year. I will be seeing it with my best friend and I'm glad because I'm going to need the moral support judging by the amount of times I nearly cried during the trailer! I am so tempted to take a duvet with me - I'll need to snuggle.
If you haven't read TFIOS - 3 things:
1. Where have you been?
2. Read it now. Right. Now.
3. Please, if you can't read it now, read it before you see the film. Pleeeeaaasssee ^.^
Here's the blurb:

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

It is such a great book. I love it so much! John Green is a great author and so many people love his work. He has a YouTube channel with his brother, Hank, which I'll leave a link to at the end.
I can't wait until June! I'm pretty sure the cinema is going to be a room full of weeping teenage girls. The cinema needs to start selling tissues - they'd make a fortune while TFIOS is showing! I will definitely be taking a box myself.
While watching the trailer, I couldn't help but notice how many lines and scenes have been taken straight out of the book, which I think is fantastic because this book shouldn't be changed AT ALL! The scene at the support group, in Amsterdam, on the swings. The scenes that hit me hardest were the bit where Gus and Hazel are helping Isaac egg Monica's car, the scene in the restaurant and especially at the end when Gus and Hazel say the iconic "Okay? Okay". Shivers! So nearly cried....
Below is the trailer. Enjoy!
I love this book so much and have no doubt it will become one of my favourite films, if it is done well. I really hope it is.
Bye guys. Thanks for reading <3

Book Haul

Hey guys! Sorry, no Creative Thursday - As hard as I tried, I couldn't muster one verse of a poem.
So I decided to leave it and instead, am doing a book haul! As you can see on the side of my blog, I have so many books to read! Well, I am finally reading a few of them and have added a few more...oops!
So, the first book is one on my 2014 reading list. I bought it on my new Kindle :) It's called The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. Here's the blurb:
"After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up."

It's a sci-fi, but I think that even if you don't really like sci-fi, you'd still enjoy this book. I'm only a little way through, but am loving it! The second book, The Infinite Sea, comes out on September 16th this year - I can't wait!

The next book is the third and final book in the Uglies trilogy, Specials, by Scott Westerfeld. I finished Pretties only a few days ago and immediately ordered this book because I could NOT wait. Thank goodness for Christmas money. I literally wait until my birthday or Christmas and then buy far too many books >.< I'm not sorry... Blurb below!

**************************SPOILERS BELOW*****************************
IF YOU HAVE NOT READ UGLIES/PRETTIES, SKIP THIS BIT!
************************************************************************

"When she is turned into a super-modelesque super-fighting machine, Tally, a former ugly, is ordered to keep the uglies down and the pretties stupid in a carefully engineered world of perfection where she refuses to play by the rules."
I can't wait to read this. I think I'll read it after I've finished The 5th Wave - I don't think I can wait any longer!

The third book is The Resistance by Gemma Malley. It's the second book after The Declaration, which is the book I finished recently. I can't wait to read it! Here's the blurb:

******************************SPOILERS BELOW**************************************
IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON READING THE DECLARATION SKIP PLEASE!*******************

"The year is 2140. Having escaped the horrors of Grange Hall, Peter and Anna are living freely on the Outside, trying hard to lead normal lives, but unable to leave the terror of the Declaration—and their experiences as surpluses—completely behind them. Peter is determined to infiltrate Pharma Corporation, which claims to have a new drug in the works; "Longevity+" will not just stop the ravages of old age, it is rumored to reverse the aging process. But what Peter and Anna discover behind the walls of Pharma is so nightmarish it makes the prison of their childhood seem like a sanctuary: for in order to supply Pharma with the building blocks for Longevity+, scientists will need to harvest it from the young."
I'm very excited to read this!

The last book I got was the final book in The Declaration trilogy, The Legacy. I'm not going to show you the blurb because I don't want to see the blurb. I don't want to read any spoilers in the blurb, if that makes sense. But I am very excited to read it!

I would definitely recommend any of these books. They are such great reads :)
I'll post something next week.
Hopefully Creative Thursday will start again! Fingers crossed.
Bye guys and thanks for reading <3

Writer's Block

Hey guys! I finished Pretties yesterday - wow. I have already ordered the last book in the Uglies trilogy, Specials, so hopefully Amazon will deliver that soon :) I've just started The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey, so I'll soon be able to delete that from my 2014 reading list - yay! I'm only a few pages in (not sure how many because I'm reading it on my Kindle) but it is already really good!
I thought I'd post today about something that has been....bothering me for a while. I have a terrible case of Writer's Block. And I mean, terrible. It is literally like my brain has built a dam, blocking off the part in my mind where all my story ideas are created and held until I write them down somewhere - normally my arm. It's like my brain is laughing at me like "hahaha, you can't have your story ideas!" I'm really struggling to think up a story idea which is annoying because I've just created an account on a website called Camp NaNoWriMo - it stands for National Novel Writing Month. It is a website that helps you write and complete your novel. You enter the title, the front cover and write. You enter how many words you have written in a day and it tells you when you should be finished. I'll leave the link below! I joined and though "Oh great, now I can finish my novel" Then I realised, I have no novel. No ideas. None at all.
I want to start writing again but I have no idea what to write about? So I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to cure Writer's Block. Any ideas will help! I just feel like one tiny hole and everything will come flooding back and I'll soon be writing again.
So, it will probably be poetry for the next few Thursdays until this writer's block goes. And even then, I think I'll keep my story to myself, just in case it doesn't work out >.<
I'll post something tomorrow.
Bye guys!

xoxo,
Bethan

The Declaration + stuff

Hi guys! I'm so sorry I haven't posted in so long - I have been really busy with school, homework, reading and, quite honestly, I had no idea what to post.... But now that I'm back in the routine of school, I should be back in the routine of blogging. Next week, I will be posting earlier in the week, with a Creative Thursday :)
So, I finished the Declaration about...hmmm, 5 minutes ago? It was a really fun read :) I thoroughly enjoyed it and have already ordered the second and third books in the trilogy, so hopefully they'll arrive at my library soon!
The character of Anna was so interesting to follow. You watched her develop from an obedient, "Valuable Asset" Surplus, into a girl who hated her life and wanted to escape from the Surplus Hall with the mysterious Peter, who became her first friend.
I can't wait to read The Resistance, but while I'm waiting for the last two books to arrive, I'm going to move on to Pretties by Scott Westerfield. It's the sequel to the best-selling book, Uglies, which my best friend gave me for my birthday. I loved it, so I'm really excited to read Pretties! Hopefully that won't take me long because, as you can see at the side of this blog, my 2014 reading list is very long, especially when you realise that "The (blablabla) trilogy/series" means more than one book!
Well, I hope you've been having a good 2014 so far. Mine's been okay. I've already added some things to my box and I've managed to keep a few of my resolutions - well, they weren't proper resolutions. Not like 'get fit' or 'eat healthier'. They were more promises to myself to be a better person and to be happy with who I am. I have done that so far, which I am really proud of ^^
Have a great weekend!
I'll post something next week, I promise >.<
Thanks for reading <3

A new start

Bonjour!
Now, I know I posted something yesterday/this morning about New Years, but I read it back and decided I wanted to do a longer post. That post was more of a 'quickly, on my phone, I need to wish my readers a happy new year' post. I wanted to write a longer one, about my 2013, the memories I've taken away and the ones I hope to gain in the new year.
A lot has happened this year, some of it good, some of it...not so good. I...
~ started my blog :)
~ read...a LOT
~ saw Catching Fire (It was amazing!)
~ had 500 pageviews and it's going up
all the time (I just... thank you so much,
whoever actually reads my blog. I love you!)
~ read the Mortal Instruments series and
the Infernal Devices trilogy
~ read Allegiant...and cried....a lot...
~ saw Gabrielle Aplin live
~ started writing far too many stories
~ got even closer to my best friend - love you!
~ fangirled
~ laughed
~ cried
~ smiled

2013 was a good year, but I can't say I'll miss it. I'm ready for a fresh start. I want to do so much more in 2014. I want to....
~ become a better blogger
~ get even more pageviews
~ read some more
~ read City of Heavenly Fire
~ see Divergent
~ see Mockingjay part 1
~ maybe take some painting classes?
~ start writing a story and actually finish it
~ be happier
~ be okay with who I am
~ change for no-one
~ make some more memories - good and bad
~ be a better person
~ be me
I'd also quite like to learn some things about blog designing. I'd like to be able to add some things to my sidebar, or change the colour of my background whenever I want. I'm going to email Rosie and ask her for some tips - Rose is the girl who designed my blog. She's lovely. Please go check her blog out!
Anyway, I hope you have a great year!
I love you lots!
Thanks for reading!

Bethan

Happy new year!

Hey guys! Well, it's 5 minutes until a new year - a new start to try to do better!
Every year, my best friend keeps a box. In the box, she puts everything that's happened to her in 2013 in there - cinema tickets, concert tickets, Christmas cards, birthday cards, receipts, little notes scrawled on scraps of paper, thoughts, feelings and things she has done. And every year, at midnight on New Year's Eve, she opens this box and goes through her memories. I've decided that next year, which is only in about 3 minutes now, I will keep a box like that.
I've never really made New Year's resolutions, but here we go, I'm going to start something new now. Next year, I'm going to try harder, at everything. I'm going to love myself. I'm going to write a story and finish it. I'm not going to get as stressed about things. I'm not going to change for anyone.
I'm going to be a better person.
Happy new year everyone!
I'll post something soon.
Thanks for reading and have a great new year!
